A "rest" holiday, contemplating and gazing at the infinite...surrounded by water...
OVER WATER RESORT
Akira Overwater Resort Bigi Pan is Suriname's newest resort. The unique resort is completely built on the water and consists of 17 detached lodges, an attractive restaurant and a lobby. The lodges and the main building are connected by wooden walkways. Viewed from the air, the resort is shaped like a “tilapia”, a common fish species in Bigi Pan.
SPACIOUS LODGES
The spacious lodges (50m2) have a large balcony, where you have a beautiful view over the lake and can enjoy a spectacular sunset or sunrise. Each lodge is equipped for 3 persons and has its own bathroom and toilet.
NATURAL AREA
Bigi Pan is a huge nature reserve with a land area of 68,000 ha and an equally large area of seawater. It is an integral area of swamps, mangrove forests and lagoons. Bigi Pan is a paradise for bird watchers, but the area is also rich in fish and reptiles. No fewer than 72 bird species reside permanently in this unique nature reserve, such as the Scarlet Ibis. In addition, about 50 migratory birds from North America come to Bigi Pan every year, such as the osprey, waders and various species of terns.
